Link Up

One of the things you can do to improve the SEO of your business is to increase the number of links that go back to your store or pages within your store.

Improving your SEO is essential and is something I am still working on but the better it is the more likely you are to show up in both Etsy and Google search results.

Getting links outside of pages that aren't managed by yourself is more tricky so we'll start with what you can do yourself.

If your store is with Etsy you will have, hopefully filled in, a profile page and an about you page. Straight off these are two great places to insert a link back to your store and improve SEO. It will also mean if anyone is viewing these pages, you have made finding your store that much easier and therefore they are more likely to check it out. Simple.

Within individual listings is a great opportunity however. Say your listing is for a pink tea cosy. In your item description you will obviously describe your item but you might also have in store a blue, a green and a white tea cosy (no idea why I have selected tea cosies?!). Therefore why not include a link to the blue tea cosy as the same item in an alternate section and include a link to the section where all your tea cosies are housed. This will not just provide links back to your store but will improve the customers experience and make their browsing easier. There aren't many professional shops online that don't do this:

You can see here that this Asos page for a denim smock dress also links through to other items from the Asos Collection, other smock dresses and other denim dresses.

So that's the easy bit but where possible you want to increase links from outside of Etsy into your store too. I have just discovered Stumble Upon which I will do a separate post on as I have found this very helpful for driving traffic as well as getting extra links. Aside from this I would suggest a top purchase would be 100 sites to promote arts and crafts by Eureka guides:

Essentially - Link up!
